ABOUT ME

Screen_Shot_2021-01-30_at_11.03.26_PM-re

My name is Daniela Soto (she/her), and I am a first-generation college graduate from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Economics and a Technology Management minor concentrated in Marketing.

Most recently, I interned as a Business Operations Analyst at the Aggie Reuse Store on campus where I used analytical frameworks for organization process improvements, business strategy, and executed projects focused on improving sales and foot traffic. In the summer before my senior year, I had the privilege of interning at Graniterock on their Marketing Communications team where I helped increase engagement across multiple social channels, organize marketing campaign launches, plan one of their largest annual events, and write messaging for marketing initiatives. I've also done a variety of marketing projects rooted in consumer research and market insights. All of my past experiences have led me to want to pursue a career in product marketing!

MY GOAL?

To join a purpose-driven organization within the tech industry that fosters a collaborative, diverse, and innovative environment where I can help drive go-to-market strategies and messaging for amazing products.

COMMUNICATOR. COLLABORATOR. CREATOR.

I [communicate] to build strong relationships, hear diverse perspectives, and constantly learn new things. I [collaborate] to become an empathetic leader that fosters an inclusive environment and maximizes effectiveness from working collectively. I [create] to tell stories, make beautiful things, and bridge the gap between products and consumer pain points.

BY THE NUMBERS

✔️ 3 years of experience in various aspects of marketing (digital, content, product).

✔️ Since graduating, I've earned 10+ certifications in product marketing, social media marketing, SEO, content marketing, and event planning.

✔️  Expanded my professional network by having 30+ coffee chats/informational interviews in the past 7 months with marketing professionals.

I love meeting new people and hearing people's experiences from all walks of life. Connect with me on LinkedIn or email me at daniela.soto330@gmail.com!

In my free time, I enjoy listening to health & wellness podcasts (Life with Marianna, and TSC podcast), going on runs by the ocean, trying new foods, reading (currently on Untamed by Glennon Doyle), keeping up with current events via the Morning Brew, going on walks with my puppy, and making myself iced matcha lattes. I love creating, storytelling, learning new things, and staying up to date on the latest beauty trends!

Another area I am passionate about is the representation of Hispanics and Latinos in the media and in the workplace. Specifically, right here in my home and the Silicon Valley, San Jose is among one of the highest Latinx labor forces in the United States at 10% Latinx workers and the lowest representation of Latinos at the executive level. I'm driven to grow within the marketing industry, make an impact, and create an environment where young ambitious Latinx women can see themselves represented within high-paying business careers and are inspired to pursue executive-level positions they are worthy of.

CLEAN BEAUTY

_________________________________

If you know me, you know that I love anything beauty related. I am exceedingly interested in a product's design and branding. I believe my passion for these two elements is what began my interest in marketing. Cosmetics, makeup, skincare, and anything beauty has always been a big part of my life! Taking pictures of products I use and sharing them on social media makes me feel as though I'm on the marketing team for a brand and I can be in charge of product shoots, copywriting, messaging, and brand marketing all in one!

Clean beauty is made without ingredients shown or suspected to harm human health. Within the past few years, the clean beauty movement has taken a hold on the beauty industry and many clean beauty brands have entered the market. Why is clean beauty important? Because the United States has failed to enforce regulation of toxic chemicals that are often put into makeup, skincare, body care, and household cleaning formulas. Over time, the chemicals we are exposed to can enter our bodies and build up over time causing all kinds of health issues.

Some of my favorite clean makeup brands: Milk, Kosas, Bare Minerals, Lilah B.

My favorite clean skincare brands: Summer Fridays, Fresh, Farmacy, Youth to The People, Drunk Elephant, First Aid Beauty, Supergoop, and Ole Henriksen
